Tom Pilat – Tom retired from ICC in 2014 as the Dean of Math, Science, and Engineering. His career in education included teaching religion, biological sciences, and various roles in administration at Academy/Spalding and Peoria Notre Dame for 27 years. At ICC, he taught Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, and majors Biology courses. His wife Mary Kay is a native of Pekin.  They have four children and thirteen grandchildren and have lived in Peoria for over 48 years. Tom has been a member of PCGS for over ten years, and is also a member of the Tazewell County Genealogical Society.

Tom’s interest in genealogy comes from his family roots (all from Cook County, Il) and the two immigrant families of his wife. He became excited about this endeavor in 2015 when he and his wife visited/discovered some ancestral homes and unknown relatives in Europe. His retirement has afforded Tom more time to work on these large and diverse family trees and, in recent years, he has expanded his family tree on Ancestry to over 550 relatives. He finds he has much more to learn and looks forward to discovering more resources that will help him build this record for his family.
