Civil War Veterans - Graves Database & Discharge Papers Index

This database was created by Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Colonel Bryner Camp 67, Joseph M. Hutchinson, Past Camp Commander and printed in July 2017.  It is intended to aid in the research of Civil War Veterans buried in the cemeteries of Peoria County of the State of Illinois.

Veteran information could include name, company served, regiment, state enlisted, branch of service, cemetery, and whether there was a headstone.

Civil War Veteran Discharge Papers

Donated from the Peoria County Recorder of Deeds (Dirk McGinnis). These copies of the original documents "are handwritten, and most contain name, company, enrollment date, discharge date, place of discharge, place of birth, age, physical description, and oath of identity."

Copies are available in print and on microfilm. To obtain a copy, go to the Peoria Public Library Main Branch, Local History/Genealogy Department (lower level).
