The Undertaker Record Books were a project initiated by Robert Hoffer, in collaboration with the Peoria County Clerk’s Office to make this information available for genealogists, and captured images of the original pages so they could be digitized for transcription.
Peoria County Clerk R. Steve Sonnemaker and his staff located this valuable resource and allowed PCGS to transcribe and create this book to be added to its collection in the Local History and Genealogy Department of the Peoria Public Library.
Peoria Camera Shop graciously donated their expertise and equipment to provide digital images of the contents in this 144-year-old book.
Alice A. Brophy transcribed the material, cross-checking the questionable spelling of surnames with Federal Census records, Peoria City Directories, and the PCGS collection of cemetery indexes. She created an index and prepared this publication for printing.
Rita Marsh proofread the database and collaborated on the formatting of this publication.
We appreciate all the hard work and offer our sincere thanks to all the above for a book which will assist many in their family research.
